Festive Style

I placed our Christmas Tree in a pot from Affordable Style Files this year.

My favourite season of the year is just round the corner and I am getting the house, Christmas Dinner menus and myself ready! When it comes to 'decking the halls', I recycle our decorations and tree every Christmas. The children will add a new handmade ornament to the tree each year.

We will have family and friends over for Christmas dinners. I enjoy getting the boys and myself dressed in some festive wear during this season. When planning our outfits, I work with what we have in our existing wardrobe; focusing on festive colour combinations and some embellishments. I play around with accessories, choosing to purchase pieces that represent current trends but simple enough to be worn again in the New Year to come.

Statement earrings and velvet have been featured in a big and bold way this Fall - here I incorporate these elements in a more subtle way. I chose statement earrings in black which makes them easy to match most outfits. My printed heels and scarf are made of velvet, pieces that can still be worn after the trend has passed.

For the Christmas season I thought the colour green would be perfect - I love this mixed print dress which can be worn with the velvet printed heels or a pair of ballet flats.

Monochromatic outfits make the perfect canvas for bold accessories - here I added a striped scarf in my hair and the velvet printed heels. I can also switch it up and wear the black statement earrings or use the velvet scarf as a belt.

Hope you guys are having fun getting ready too!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
