Villa Samadhi - Old World Charm

A hidden gem tucked away on a hill, surrounded by lush greenery; quiet and idyllic - this is Villa Samadhi

Villa Samadhi

We were looking for a getaway to celebrate our dear friend Kelly's birthday, something different from the usual staycation destinations. This black and white colonial house transported us into a different era; it was a welcome respite from city living.

We were greeted by warm smiles, hospitality that reminded you of home and afternoon tea (complimentary) full of local flavour. Time slipped by as we sipped our tea and enjoyed each other's company. Before we knew it, cocktail hour began (6PM to 7PM) and we had to get ready for dinner.

Dinner was at Tamarind Hill, a 3 minute walk from the Villa. Our afternoon tea and breakfast were all prepared by Tamarind Hill. The restaurant served hearty, tasty and refined Thai food for their dinner menu. The wonderful staff knew we were celebrating Kelly's birthday - they sang her a song and served us desserts on the house! My favourite was the Chef's take on Red Ruby - Pink Diamond in Coconut Ice-Cream. I am definitely returning to Tamarind for this dessert.

Turndown service included Port as a nightcap with some local snacks and chocolates. The Villa does not have the usual facilities - spa and swimming pool but they keep you very well fed! Kelly managed to get up early in the morning to walk off our prior day of feasting (the Labrador Nature Reserve is within walking distance); Amanda and I preferred the bed.

Breakfast was served at the Tamarind Hill outdoor terrace. The Nasi Lemak and Roti Canai was amazing. I made a mental note to work off this weekend of indulgence in the coming week.

It was a wonderful weekend that left all of us refreshed and reconnected. As we journey through life as friends, we bear witness to the struggles, joys and milestones each of us face. Weekends like these help us to tease out shared problems and laugh over memories past.

To my beautiful friend Kelly - Blessed birthday my dear. May you keep that youthful optimism and hope in your heart. We promise you, you will never walk through this life alone and we are always supporting you.

xoxo
