Sun And Sand At The CANOPI, Bintan

Sunburnt but smiling - our family had a splashing good time at THE CANOPI, BINTAN this March School Holidays.

The CANOPI was a one hour ferry ride away from Singapore, Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal; and a five minute bus ride from Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal (Bintan, Indonesia). When we arrived, I was immediately taken by the crystal blue Lagoon and wide expanse of sky.

We spent four days, 3 nights in total - a good amount of time for the family to settle in and enjoy what was offered at the resort. There were a wide range of water based and non-water based activities available. We spent most of our time in the lagoon because my boys loved the clean and clear sea water. No. 1 (8YO) was able to try most of the water sports and some tested his athletic abilities as well as courage. There were rides suitable for No.2 but being the little dare-devil of the family, he attempted (what he could) with his brother. The rest of the time he was happy swimming and building sandcastles.

No.1 & No.2 loved this floating inflatable - we played on for hours everyday.

We picked the Lagoon View Tent and it was right by the waterside. The tent could fit our family of four comfortably but it took me a while to get used to showering in the ‘open’. Housekeeping was timely and thorough.

My favourite part of the stay was zipping around the resort on our rented E-Scooters. I recommend renting them for 12 hours daily - this way you can get around the resort conveniently and renew your rental in the mornings after breakfast en-route to the activity centre.

There were Life Guards on duty throughout the day. They were friendly and earnest in keeping watch.

We took most of our meals at the resort restaurants - Patio and Hooked On. There were alternatives outside the resort but the boys were too tired by the end of the day for us to venture out. Afternoons we chose to have an early lunch (it gets too hot to stay out by 11:30AM) and watch movies in our tent.

In the evenings, the weather cooled down and we could watch the sunset while having our dinner at PATIO.

A few final tips - do pack your rash guard, sun hats and sun-block. We worked through two spray cans and half a tube of sun-block (I carried them with me and re-applied throughout the day). We brought the boys’ sand toys and swimming goggles which came in handy.

Our family really enjoyed out stay and we will definitely be returning sometime soon.

xoxo
